Let’s create a resilient, sustainable future for business & the environment today.
Our Services
operating model transformation
We work with your people to understand your organisation, and the problems and opportunities available to you. First identifying what your business needs to solve for most, and in what order. Complex problems require simple starts. We unpack your business model to identify the most impactful areas to transition your business, and allow you to maximise the pace of decision making, enhanced flow of resources and organising teams on how they are best to deliver for commercial outcomes.
Innovation delivery
We work with ambitious teams to design user-centred, sustainable solutions for marine activity - from aquaculture to eco-tourism. Whether you're exploring new technologies, rethinking your supply chain, or adapting to new regulations, we help you create an innovation strategy that will reduce environmental impact while maintaining profitability. Importantly, we focus on the people in the value-chain ensuring they understand the ‘why’ that’s driving the need for change, and how they play a part.
strategy design
We help complex businesses and government agencies align strategies, to enable effective implementation of innovation and sustainability models. We do this by facilitating and co-designing strategy workshops, to gain Board and C-Level stakeholder alignment. Starting at the Governance level, we ensure all change is linked to enterprise leadership strategies, ensuring necessary support systems are in place, before change efforts begin. Through facilitation and training, we help you build the capability to innovate, adapt, and thrive.
We create solutions that balance growth, people and planet by collaborating with high-growth, ambitious organisations and pivotal government agencies to navigate the
Blue Economy.
The Blue Economy - sustainable use of ocean and coastal resources to support jobs, communities, and long-term ocean health, is also about honouring Indigenous knowledge and stewardship (kaitiakitanga, caring for Country), and protecting the ocean for future generations. As a major driver of opportunity in the next 10 years and beyond, it has the capacity to transform both business and ecosystems. In NZ alone around 4% of GDP is related to the blue economy, with a predicted $14 billion in potential value by 2035. For sectors that rely on the maritime area, there’s never been a better time to innovate.
We use proven strategic planning tools combined with a proprietary human centred design toolbox, to help organisations solve complex problems across industries.
“The ocean's power of regeneration is remarkable – if we just offer it the chance.”
— David Attenborough
We co-design with people at the heart of marine innovation.
Our why
There’s a global focus on what the ocean can offer environmentally and economically - a once in a lifetime opportunity to create solutions that will dynamically change the way we operate, for people and planet.
We believe the key to lasting impact is a human centred approach to innovation. This design framework has been proven globally as a key to unlocking innovation in complex categories, now it’s time for marine.
Globally, the blue economy is tipped to generate $15 trillion by 2050 (15% global GDP), which means there’s a unique opportunity to create new products and services, aligned with your business purpose and strategy, when designed right.
By deeply understanding the individual needs of business, communities, and ecosystems involved in the blue economy, we help shape strategies that are not only sustainable but practical, scalable, and commercially viable.
The result? Smarter, more sustainable innovation that drives higher efficiency, reduced costs, and accelerates market adoption of marine solutions, while fostering a culture of impact-enabled growth.
“Our oceans hold extraordinary potential, for innovation, for climate solutions, and for life itself. I’ve spent a decade helping companies innovate, and now it’s time to have impact in the marine space. At Salt Labs, I’m partnering with visionary leaders to drive bold, purpose-led action, to support a thriving, regenerative blue economy for future generations. Designing better business futures.” — Laura Fayerman, Founder, Salt Labs
